  3. Share of traffic to News and Media sites has increased by 3% yoy, half the rate of social media traffic, which is up 6% yoy and still accounts for around one in eight of UK online visits. (Hitwise July ’11)
  4. Premium publishers are more effective for performance-based campaigns than long-tail sites, according to a study of Sky, Channel 4 and The Guardian by retargeting firm Criteo. Click-through-rate increased four times, conversion rates were 16% higher (August ’11)
  5. In the EU5 region, nearly 5% of mobile users and nearly 10% of smartphone owners scanned a QR or bar code during the month of June 2011.(Comscore June ‘11)
  6. Sales of smartphones were up 74% yoy and accounted for 25% of overall sales in the 2nd quarter of 2011, up from 17% yoy (Gartner August '11)
