All sectors of marketing saw budget cuts with the exception of the internet, according to IPA's Bellwether Report for the second quarter of 2008.
However, the web saw its smallest upward revision since 2003.
Direct marketing budgets saw their highest downward revision since the report began. 'Other' marketing, incorporating PR, events and research, as well as main media budgets were also revised down.
Moray MacLennan, the IPA president and the European chairman of M&C Saatchi, emphasised the importance of "more original and innovative solutions" to buck this market trend.Source: IPA
