New categories introduced for AOP Online Publishing Awards 2008

The Association of Online Publishers (AOP) launches the call for entries for its Online Publishing Awards 2008 with new categories for best mobile site, best research and insights project, and two awards for best online ad sales team of the year (business and consumer).

The awards, in their seventh year, are firmly established as a unique showcase for the innovations and best achievements the digital publishing industry has to offer. Last year the AOP attracted a 40% increase in entries over the previous year from online publishers, ranging from the biggest consumer brands to specialist business titles.

AOP director Ruth Brownlee comments: “Our awards are designed to celebrate and recognise real innovation and creativity in the industry. We’re delighted to play host to an event that attracts entries from such a high calibre of talented people and renowned media businesses.”

Winners of the 2007 AOP Online Publishing Awards included the Telegraph team for consumer online publisher of the year; GazetteLive, published by Trinity Mirror, scooped best consumer website; Reed Business Information secured online publisher - business and CNET’s ZDNet.co.uk won best business website.

The deadline for entries is 25 July, and can be submitted electronically at www.ukaopevents.org.uk. The winners will be announced at an Awards gala dinner held at the London Hilton, Park Lane on 1 October, which follows the AOP’s annual flagship Digital Publishing Summit held at the same venue during the day.
