IPC Media Digital Director Neil Robinson announces today the appointment of Kevin Heery as IPC Media Digital Technology Director, replacing Kelly Waters, who is emigrating to Australia.

Effective from 8 September, Kevin will have responsibility for all product development and digital technology across IPC.

He will lead the 70-strong digital technology team across IPC and report to Neil Robinson.

Currently Digital Director for IPC Inspire, Kevin joined IPC in April 2001 as technical and production manager on NME.com and became head of online for IPC's men’s and music titles in 2004. He joined the IPC Ignite board as Director of Digital Development in 2006, before expanding his remit to cover all of IPC Inspire's titles in his current role.

Neil says: “This is an excellent appointment for IPC. Kevin has had great success in his IPC career, most notably in his work with NME.com, Nuts.co.uk and, more recently, Mousebreaker and Feelgood games. His advice and knowledge have influenced so many of IPC’s digital developments and I am delighted that he will be working more closely with me and the IPC Media Board in future.”

Kevin adds: “IPC is already a leader in digital publishing. We've won numerous awards; we’re quickly expanding our existing titles across more and more platforms; we're launching new digital-only brands; and we’re developing new business models. So I'm very excited to get this opportunity to work with and learn from all IPC's digital talent, as we set about growing our digital fortunes."

Says Neil: “I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Kelly’s work at IPC. His legacy is significant; he has transformed IPC’s capability, confidence and success in web development, and has built a team that both he and they should be proud of – for that we thank him."

"He hands to Kevin an efficient, success-driven product development team. I wish him every success both personally and professionally in Sydney, where he will take up his new role with a global IT consultancy.”

Kelly has also been a key contributor to AOP’s Product Development Committee, especially around applying Agile approaches in media.
