Do your journalists attend large sporting or cultural events to report on them? Are you finding the terms of their access to these events increasingly restrictive?
AOP and other international media organisations have noted with concern that access for reporters to world class events such as the Rugby World Cup and the Indian Cricket Premier League games come with a number of increasingly onerous restrictions.
For example, to receive press accreditation for the Indian Premier League, the applicant must contract to upload all photographs taken to the Indian Premier League (IPL’s) website, after which the IPL may use these images free of charge and at any time in the future. Failure to upload pictures to the IPL database will result in removal of accreditation from the journalist.
AOP is working with an international coalition of press organisations to call for fairer terms and condition for entry of journalists to large-scale events.
