Europe’s emerging internet markets – Nielsen press release

Nielsen’s 2006 research into ‘Netizens’ (online Europeans) reveals that home continues to be the most popular location among Europeans from which to access the internet.

Internet access locations throughout Europe :

  • Home – 93 per cent
  • Work – 47 per cent
  • Educational institutions – 26 per cent
  • Internet cafes – 19 per cent

Lithuanians are emerging as the most technologically advanced users, favouring to access the internet from mobile phones, PDA's and games consoles.

The research also considers online spending, concluding that one in ten online Europeans will make an online purchase in the next six months.
