AOP Autumn 2014 Conference - 9th October

In the new edition of thought leadership pieces from AOP Strategic Education partner Circus Street, Jonny Townsend, Operations Director, looks at how technology changes the way we do business in all industries: We want it our way not your way My dear old mum finally got rid of her landline this week. The original Mrs Townsend decided that as only PPI companies called her on it anyway, what was the point in having one? Where once sat a cream Bakelite symbol of the 20th century, now sits a geranium.I was in the mobile industry when we all scoffed at those nutters who in the same breath predicted the landline would disappear and that we would end up with more mobiles on the planet than people. We shouted “Do not pass go and get straight to the looney bin you rambling fanatics. “If the landline phone has gone from our culture, what next?  Well people are still phoning so the phone itself didn’t disappear, it just changed. What changed to kill the landline? Technology? No. Choice. Technology used to say “Behold! Now you can fly” or “Here! The motor car” or “Eureka! Space travel.” Now its says, “Ahem! How about this but better?” The phone hasn’t gone. BT’s version of it has.

RTL Group acquires majority stake in programmatic video advertising platform SpotXchange RTL Group, the leading European entertainment network, announced this week that it has signed a binding agreement with the current shareholders of SpotXchange, Inc. to acquire a 65 per cent majority stake in the Denver-based video advertising monetisation company.
