Senior research and commercial executives from the BBC, Channel 4, ITV and Guardian Newspapers have agreed to represent the interests of AOP members on the Steering Committee of the Joint Industry Committee for Internet Measurement Systems (JICIMS).
The JICIMS Steering Committee will be tasked with the development of a framework for a proposed online planning currency to sit alongside existing industry currencies such as BARB, NRS and RAJAR, under the guidance of recently-appointed general manager Peter Bowman.
As one of the four major shareholders of the new JIC - alongside the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA), Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) and Incorporated Society of British Advertisers (ISBA) - AOP has been allocated five seats on the JICIMS Steering Committee. The fifth seat will be taken by Alexandra White, director of AOP, who represented AOP members’ interests on the informal group that preceded JICIMS.
