The official Shortlist for the Association of Online Publishers Digital Publishing Awards 2013
was announced last week, complete with three new
categories for this year’s event including a new Award for Mobile and Tablet Innovation.
Speaking to Journalism.co.uk
, Tim Faircliff, interim managing director at the AOP, said that the new categories have brought a wider spread of nominations to the awards: "I think it's a reflection on the market. You don't have to have a 150-year legacy print business in order to compete within the digital arena."
lead the charge this year with a total of eight nominations, while RBI receives seven and Guardian News & Media - which led the shortlist last year - has six.
Michael Nutley, who oversaw the 26-strong team who conducted the AOP Awards judging emphasised a strong body of entries into this year’s Awards, which is a reflection of a Digital Publishing industry getting to grips with new technologies: “An exceptionally high quality of work went through all the submissions revealing an extraordinary desire to innovate.”
The ceremony takes place on Thursday 6 June 2013
, at the prestigious Roundhouse venue in Camden
