In his role as Revenue Operations Director, Sam Sherson is responsible for the execution of trading strategy and change initiatives across the Guardian News and Media commercial team.
The Guardian is a global pioneer in the programmatic trading space, with private marketplaces first launched back in 2011. Sherson leads the development of the Guardian’s premium programmatic solution, spanning demand side relationships, partnerships with technology suppliers, and internal adoption across the global sales team.
Based in London, Sherson also manages advertising business intelligence across all Guardian digital and print platforms, reporting on relevant commercial metrics, forecasting and measurement vs. department revenue and share targets. Trading insights generated by market share and revenue analysis across agency and client customers helps identify trading opportunities in market.
Sherson’s management and optimisation of pricing across all Guardian products, provides insight to drive trading policies and decisions whilst the development of The Guardian’s cross-platform trading proposition, enables audience and environment buying across the Guardian portfolio against common media planning metrics.
Prior to joining Guardian News and Media in June 2010, Sam Sherson spent two years as Accountability Director at OMD International in London, responsible for monitoring of media buying performance across all channels for the global Omnicom network. He worked as a Television Planner at Mediacom before that, following six years of work as a Media Planner in several New Zealand agencies including Universal McCann, OMD and PHD.
Sherson has a degree in Marketing and Economics from the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
