Matt is Managing Director of Google in the UK & Ireland – the biggest market for Google outside the US and the most advanced major country in terms of e-commerce and online advertising spending.

Google’s products are enjoyed by millions of people throughout the UK and help thousands of businesses succeed online. Matt and his team aim to help UK consumers and businesses make the most of the internet.

Before joining Google at the start of 2007, Matt spent much of his career in media and marketing, with particular interests in strategy, commercial development and sales performance. This included Commercial and Digital leadership roles in UK media.

Matt was chosen as Wired Magazine’s ‘Most Influential Person in the Digital world’ in 2010 and New Media Age’s readers voted him the greatest individual contributor to new media in 2008. He has an MBA from London Business School, an MA from Cambridge and won silver medals for Cambridge in several Boat Races. He was a member of the British rowing team and has won medals in eights and fours at the World Rowing Championships. He is also a Trustee of The Climate Group. Matt lives near the Thames with his wife and two energetic sons.
