Derek has one of the most straightforward biogs in media.

He arrived at MediaTel after completing an English degree very many years ago - to make the tea; input some circulation data; and make up some Newsline stories.

He stayed there and occasionally still does two of these three things.

In between times he led a buyout of the original shareholders and is the majority shareholder in the business these days.

MediaTel Group runs MediaTel.co.uk; the only electronic trading system in UK media, J-ET for the radio industry; a growing events business; and a new search and selection business.
